What are Egg Beaters made of?

Egg Beaters Original is made of 99% all-natural egg whites. We season the egg whites, add in beta-carotene for a natural yellow color, and then add back in the vitamins and minerals that are found in the yolk of an egg.

Egg Beaters 100% Egg Whites are made of 100% all-natural egg whites. See our What Are Egg Beaters?  page for more information.

Are Egg Beaters as nutritious as whole eggs from a shell?

While the traditional whole egg delivers a variety of important nutrients, it also contains 5 g of fat, 70 calories, and a hefty dose of cholesterol—about 185 mg per large egg—all of which are found in the egg yolk. In contrast, Egg Beaters Original is actually more nutritious than traditional whole eggs. By using egg whites, all of the fat and cholesterol and more than 1/2 of the calories are cut out. In addition, Egg Beaters Original contains greater amounts of important vitamins such as A, B-12, D, and E, as well as other essential nutrients such as folic acid and riboflavin. Each serving of Egg Beaters also has 5 g of protein.

Egg Beaters 100% Egg Whites do not have added vitamins and minerals.

Are Egg Beaters the same as egg whites?

Egg Beaters 100% Egg Whites are 100% all-natural egg whites—double pasteurized for safety and conveniently packaged in a carton.

Egg Beaters Original and our seasoned variety are not the same as egg whites, but egg whites are the main ingredient. We start with all-natural egg whites, but we add back in the vitamins and minerals found in the yolk of an egg. These options are great for people who desire the low calories, fat, and cholesterol of egg whites, but want a taste and experience more similar to eating shell eggs.

Why Do Egg Beaters Original have a yellow color?

Egg Beaters Original are naturally colored by beta-carotene, just one of several added vitamins and minerals that make Egg Beaters nutritionally comparable to whole eggs, but with less calories, fat, and cholesterol.
